The µAWS sensor is a LASER-DOPPLER velocimeter for contactless length and speed measurement on dispersive surfaces. In order to do this, a stripe pattern is projected onto the measuring medium using two laser beams. The movement of the measuring medium generates frequencies in the light reflected in the detector which are directly proportional to the speed of the disperser. Measurement takes place without slip or damage to the measured material.
